Realism In The Recession

Introducing The New EED Website

Published on August 31, 2008 by admin

Hi there!

You’re probably looking at this wondering what happened to the old website…well, we at EED would like to introduce you to the new face of the label. This is only the first of many changes to come in the next few months. Now, a bit of explanation:

David Tagg started Expanding Electronic Diversity a few years ago as a “boutique label”, and back then it functioned mainly as a vehicle for webreleases and a couple very limited hardcopy releases. In Autumn of 2006, David met Brian Grainger who had previously released a large body of work as Milieu, and ran his own small-time outpost for distributing his work, Milieu Music. The two almost immediately started collaborating, on everything from music to design, which subsequently led to them starting two more imprints – Second Sun Recordings, an outlet exclusively for their own works, followed by Install, a similar artistic approach as SSR, only built for releasing works by other people besides David or Brian. EED grew as well, moving slowly away from webreleases and towards a more streamlined release schedule of uniquely designed hardcopy releases.

At the time of this post, all three labels and Milieu Music are flourishing with an abundance of music, art and ideas. It makes sense that a number of people interested in one or two of the imprints would be interested in the functions of the others, and so this website redesign is an attempt at a sort of cross-pollination.

We’d like this website to become the central hub for EED, SSR, Install and Milieu Music, as well as a platform for us to talk about music we’re listening to, food and wine we’re enjoying, live events, related releases or even films we’re watching. So we hope you find the information you’re after much more easily here, and as always feel free to contact us about anything related to this site.

Sincerely,

Your Friends At EED
